8 Powers: Organizing the March on Frankfort

Georgia Powers discusses organizing the March on Frankfort in 1964 with Martin Luther King Jr. and Jackie Robinson.

Georgia Davis Powers was born in Springfield, Kentucky in 1933. She is a politician and civil rights activist and served as a distinguished member of the Kentucky State Senate for 21 years, starting in 1967. She was with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis when Dr. King was assassinated in 1968.

This interview took place on April 26, 2013 as part of the Kentucky Civil Rights Hall of Fame Oral History Project, Louie B. Nunn Center for Oral History and University of Kentucky Libraries.
